Information on Rimadyl
Statistical Data on side effects of Rimadyl FDA: http://www.doglogic.com/rimadylandbaytril.htm
This is the insert the Vet should provide you: http://www.fda.gov/cvm/Documents/141053cis.pdf

Much more sites than I have provided. Do you think the FDA would allow a drug to remain on the market if it killed 3,200 people?

Rimadyl Killed My 9 Year Old Golden Retriever!
Please read this before giving your pet Rimadyl. I trusted my Vet when he prescribed Rimadyl for my 9-year-old Golden Retriever. I left the Animal Hospital without asking what the side effects of Rimadyl were. If I had known that death was a possible side effect I would not have given it to my Golden. That mistake cost the life of my loved pet and at least 3,000 other known cases.
After the abrupt death of my dog I wanted to find out what the cause of death was. I looked at the medicine we were giving our dog before she died. Rimadyl and painkillers were the only medication she was taking. Imagine my horror when I typed into a search engine Rimadyl. Vast information and other people with stories of death.
Here is a link to story done by CBS on Rimadyl in 1999: http://wbz.dayport.com/viewer/viewerpage.php?Art_ID=8171&tf=video_player.tpl&PreloadContract_DefID=1&Contract_DefID=2&Category_ID=5
The story of Jonquil, 9 year-old Golden Retriever. A couple months before giving our golden Rimadyl she started to have black stool and began to become week. We brought her to our vet and he found an ulcer that he surgically repaired. He visually inspected the rest of her digestive tract and found nothing. She was recovering and one day about 25 days after the ulcer surgery she jumped from the bottom stair and hurt her front knee joint. She was limping and we returned to the vet who prescribed us Rimadyl. 5 days later she had heart failure and died in our arms in the middle of my living room floor.
Realizing the death was sudden we started researching the drugs we were giving our dog before she died. None of the blue bottles had any warnings of possible side effects and we were not told of any to look for. We were giving her 2 pills one was a low does pain killer and the other was Rimadyl. I typed Rimadyl into a search engine and to my horror I discovered vast information of others who lost pets to this drug.
After reading the side effects and what the FDA had to say about the drug I followed the FDA procedures for a possible drug reaction. Pfizer paid for the Autopsy and the results were a rupture in her lower digestive tract that caused bacteria to leak into her abdomen and then settle in her heart. A side effect that Rimadyl has been known to cause.
